Plantar Fasciitis

At Jensen Shoes we developed unique custom shoe inserts that are effective for plantar fasciitis treatment and work in almost every case. As a pedorthist I find plantar fasciitis a very common problem, which is caused by the lack of unloading from your metatarsals (joints your toes are connected to) to your heel. It is very easy to diagnose because the pain (can be either in the arch or heel area) usually happens when you have been off your feet for a period of time (could be in mornings or after sitting a while). It is very important that the custom orthotics actually match the comfort shoes and it is imperative that you comply, by using the combination for most of your activities. The people that have the most problems with Plantar Fasciitis are individuals that have high arches and work on their feet; however, from time to time we find others that the arch is not as high. One very important thought I find, is you must believe in the integrity of those serving you. Without your understanding and belief nothing good happens.

What is Plantar Fasciitis?
Plantar fasciitis is when the plantar fascia ligament is strained causing pain at the bottom of your foot. The plantar fascia is a ligament-like band running from your heel to the ball of your foot. This band pulls on the heel bone, raising the arch of your foot as it pushes off the round. If your foot moves incorrectly, the plantar fascia may become strained. The fascia may swell and its tiny fibers may begin to fray, causing plantar fasciits.

Symptoms Plantar Fasciitis Diagram

  • The bottom of your foot may hurt when you stand.
  • Pain usually occurs on the inside of the foot, near the spot where the heal and arch meet.
  • Pain may lessen after a few steps, but it comes back after rest or with prolonged movement.
